Ex 34:14 NKJV For you shall worship no other god, for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God. How would you feel if your own spouse was hugging, kissing, or trying to talk to (flirt with) several different people right in front of you? Sad? Angry? Bewildered? How about disrespected, jealous, or heartbroken? God presented this question to me to help me realize how He feels when we "cheat" on Him. He feels a lot of these same emotions. Think about it. Whenever we chase after the things of this world, we are "courting" other people. We'll hug, kiss, and flirt with the devil, even though we are suppose to be married to God. We'll even look directly at God and smile before we do something that we know will hurt Him. Everything that we do is done right in front of His face. How does God deal with our unfaithfulness? Sometimes, God will fight for us. He will go to that sin and command it to turn us loose. God will stand up and say "Hold up! I'm his/her God so you need to go your way before things get ugly!" He will also send people to intercede for us. He'll provide ways for us to get to church. He will even introduce us to people that will show us how to renew our failed relationship with Him. (He's willing to go to counseling.) But there are also times when He will come after us for yielding to that sin. He will allow us to feel convicted, and He will chastise us for opening the door to sin in our lives. Here's the difference: When sin comes after us-God will fight for us (Resist the devil and he will flee). When we choose to resist, God puts power behind our choice which causes the enemy to flee, and only us left standing. On the other hand, if we pursue after or flirt with sin, then we should prepare for God's wrath and chastisement because it will come. We should take the time today to consider our actions. Faithful or Unfaithful? Repent and be free! It's not too late. I hope you enjoyed reading the word of God in a new light. Have a Happy Wednesday! God Bless, Min. Tommy & Sis.
