Golden Calf
Mar. 9, 2005

    Today's Topic is Golden Calf

Do you ever feel hopeless or abandoned?  Like God doesn't care about what happens to you?  Do you
feel like He lead you into the desert and then left you to die?  Then you are suffering from a condition
called Spiritual Memory Loss.  This can be very serious, but don't worry, there are many others who have
    the same condition.

The Israelites are a prime example.  They always needed God to show them a sign to prove that He was
still with them, despite His many promises.  And whenever they were left alone, they strayed from God's
commandments.  God had to constantly send someone to remind them of His commandments,
promises, rewards and consequences.   Why?  Spiritual Memory Loss.  The Israelites quickly forgot how
God delivered them from the hand of Pharaoh, and many of their other enemies.

Ex 32:1-4 NKJV  1  Now when the people saw that Moses delayed coming down from the
mountain, the people gathered together to Aaron, and said to him, "Come, make us gods that
shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt,
we do not know what has become of him."  2  And Aaron said to them, "Break off the golden
earrings which are in the ears of your wives, your sons, and your daughters, and bring them to
me."  3  So all the people broke off the golden earrings which were in their ears and brought
them to Aaron.  4  And he received the gold from their hand, and he fashioned it with an
engraving tool, and made a molded calf.  Then they said, "This is your god, O Israel, that
brought you out of the land of Egypt."

Now, if you've ever seen origami, imagine making a calf out of paper and then calling it your god.
Sounds silly, right.  Well, that is what we do with our degrees, our cars, our houses, and other material
possessions.  We know that they are all made by man's hands, but we continue to worship them, anyway.

Spiritual Memory Loss is a devastating condition and needs to be treated right away.  When God moves
in our lives, we need to take the time to write it down so that we can reflect on it in those times of
despair.  We can also use the journal to describe our feelings and thoughts as we are going through
troubling times.  This may help others during their times of need.

Remind yourself of all that God has done for you and what He has promised to do, and put a stop to your
    Spiritual Memory Loss today!

I hope you enjoyed reading the word of God in a new light.  Have a Happy Wednesday!

    God Bless,
