| Help, I'm Sinking! May 11, 2005 |

Habakkuk 3:19 Amp The Lord God is my Strength, my personal bravery, and my invincible army; He makes my feet like hinds' feet and will make me to walk [not to stand still in terror, but to walk] and make [spiritual] progress upon my high places [of trouble, suffering, or responsibility]! I was pondering on the story of Peter walking on the water, recently. The part that got my attention the most was that after Peter cried out to Jesus he didn't have to do anything else. Jesus did the rest. Jesus stretched out His arm and guided Peter back to a place of safety. Jesus didn't make Peter reach for Him. A lot of times, we say that we can't hold on any longer or that we don't have the strength to take another step but we forget that we only need to have enough strength to cry out. God does the rest! Like in Habakkuk 3:19, the Lord God is our strength. That is why we get tired of holding on because it isn't our job to hold on. Our job is to trust God to hold on for us. If you are sinking today, cry out to the Father and let Him pull you out. I hope you enjoyed reading the word of God in a new light. Have a Happy Wednesday! God Bless, Min. Tommy & Sis. Shatika Gray Scripture References Matt. 14:25-33 Amp 25 And in the fourth watch [between 3:00-6:00 a.m.] of the night, Jesus came to them, walking on the sea. 26 And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were terrified and said, "It is a ghost!" And they screamed out with fright. 27But instantly He spoke to them, saying, "Take courage! I AM! Stop being afraid!" 28 And Peter answered Him, "Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water." 29 He said, "Come!" So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water, and he came toward Jesus. 30 But when he perceived and felt the strong wind, he was frightened, and as he began to sink, he cried out, "Lord, save me [from death]!" 31 Instantly Jesus reached out His hand and caught and held him, saying to him, "O you of little faith, why did you doubt?" 32 And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. 33 And those in the boat knelt and worshiped Him, saying, Truly You are the Son of God! |
