| Psalm 1, Verse 3 (In Slow Motion) Oct. 25, 2006 |

Ps. 1:1-3 NKJV Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in His law he meditates day and night. 3 He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper. Psalm 1:3 AMP And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water. This is an amazing analogy. A tree planted by the riverside has so many enviable qualities. It is rooted, immovable, strong, never lacking, prosperous, glorious, healthy, long living, and flourishing. But it also has responsibilities such as bearing much fruit, replenishing life, providing shelter for the weary, feeding the hungry, and being a testimony of God's awesome faithfulness. So with great blessings, come great responsibilities which brings us to the next part: that bringeth forth his fruit in his season. God expects us to reciprocate the blessings that He is bestowing upon us, rather than hoarding them all unto ourselves. That is why God tells us in Acts 20:35 that it is more blessed to give than to receive. So by not allowing ourselves to walk in ungodly counsel (vs. 1), choosing instead to study and meditate on the word of God (vs. 2), and to share our blessings with others (vs. 3), God gives us an even bigger promise. He says: his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. What more could we ask for? The Lord God Almighty, the One who cannot lie, just promised us that if we do these things, everything we do shall (without a shadow of a doubt) succeed! And we have it in writing! Now, who can promise us a better deal than that? I hope you enjoyed reading the word of God in a new light. Have a Happy Wednesday! God Bless, Pastor Tommy & Sis. Shatika Gray |
