| If You're Thirsty, Drink Sept. 13, 2006 |
Matt. 9:20-21 KJV 20 And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment: 21 For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole. Imagine coming in after a strenuous jog. Sweat is pouring off of you and your mouth is extremely dry. All you can think about is getting something to drink. So you go inside of the house, grab a chair, walk up to the refrigerator and sit down in front of it. You are so close to getting something to drink that you can taste it but for some reason you won't open the door. You just sit there while your thirsty craving torments you. That doesn't make much sense does it? To get that close to what you are longing for and then be deprived of it because you won't open the door to access it. But that is what a lot of us do when we enter into God's house. We go in thirsty because of all the tests and trials that we have endured during the week. We are exhausted and dehydrated. We come stumbling in and sit in the nearest pew (usually near the back), but we never open the door to drink. We just sit there. We don't worship, we don't clap our hands and we fall asleep during the sermon because we failed to drink. Our bodies are so worn out from the devil's constant harassment because we failed to drink and yet now we have to go back out into the world and face the battle again in our weakened state because we failed to drink. The woman with an issue of blood knew what she needed and she went after it. She did not let anyone stop her because she desired a change and she knew that Jesus was the only one who could give it to her. She opened the door and got what she needed. Will you do the same? I hope you enjoyed reading the word of God in a new light. Have a Happy Wednesday! God Bless, Pastor Tommy & Sis.
