There are several references in the Bible that refer to the Lord as being a Rock. What does this mean? Well, here are some descriptions of a rock or boulder: solid, immovable, durable, dependable, stable, supportive, deadly, strong, unshakable, stubborn, heavy, destructive, powerful, and ancient. Do any of these words describe our God? Rocks can be used for multiple purposes, such as a foundation, a refuge, a seal, a door, a cornerstone, a pathway, a wall, or as a form of protection. God is known as all of these things, and we can call on Him anytime we need Him. Read some of the scriptures below, and take some time today to meditate on how God has proved Himself to be a Rock in your life. *All scriptures written below are from the New King James Version Ps 62:1-2 1 Truly my soul silently waits for God; from Him comes my salvation. 2 He only is my Rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be greatly moved. Ps 31:2-3 2 Bow down Your ear to me, deliver me speedily; be my rock of refuge, a fortress of defense to save me. 3 For You are my rock and my fortress; therefore, for Your name's sake, lead me and guide me. Ps 40:1-2 1 I waited patiently for the Lord; and He inclined to me, and heard my cry. 2 He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my steps. Ps 94:21-22 21 They gather together against the life of the righteous, and condemn innocent blood. 22 But the Lord has been my defense, and my God the rock of my refuge. I hope you enjoyed reading the word of God in a new light. Have a Happy Wednesday! God Bless, Min Tommy & Sis. Shatika Gray |
