| Oh, I See You! Feb. 8, 2006 |
Luke 21:34-36 NKJV 34 “But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. 35 For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.” The Bible says that if we are not careful, these things will come upon us as a snare. That means, we have to watch where we step because the enemy is sneaking around laying traps for us. He is crawling around in the bushes waiting for us to let our guard down so that he can lure us into a net. Satan had the nerve to set a trap for our Lord Jesus, so why do we think that he would hesitate coming after us! However, Jesus had something for him though, and it was the Word of God. That is why we have to know the Word of God for ourselves. We should expect the enemy to come after us because that is what he does. That is why we have to keep our eyes open! To "keep watch" actually means that we are looking expectantly for something. Keep watch and pray for discernment as the Lord has commanded us. Not just for ourselves, but for each other also. But it is not enough to just "keep watch", we also have to pray. It's not enough to watch a burglar break into our house, we have to do something! Prayer builds up our spirit man so that the temptation will not be able to overtake us. Prayer puts a shield around us and helps us to be bold and spiritually alert. Prayer not only shows us where the enemy is hiding, but it gives us the boldness to kick the enemy out of his hiding places. Keep watch and pray, so that the next time the enemy sticks up his head, we can tell him, "Oh, I see you! Now get out, in Jesus Name!" I hope you enjoyed reading the word of God in a new light.
