| Clean Slate Nov. 19, 2008 |

darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. It is a difficult task for us to make something out of nothing, but it is an even more difficult task to take something that has already been formed and molded into a particular item and then try to turn it into something else. For instance, try making a table transform into a chair. It is nearly impossible because the shape has already been determined and it would have to be broken into many pieces before it could be reshaped to resemble the structure it is intended to take. The pieces would be too long and would require cutting; it would need to be upholstered; etc. It is not without hope, but it would take a lot of work-maybe more than its worth. That is why it is important that we repent and ask God to cleanse us of our sins. This gives God a clean slate to work with. Not that God can't work with us in the state that we are in, but it would require for Him to break us in many areas before we would be ready for use. We make things easier on ourselves when we surrender and allow God to strip us of all the excess that we are holding on to. When we give God a clean slate to work with, he is able to make his greatest creations as we can see in Gen 1, God appreciates having a clean slate to work with. Making something out of nothing is his specialty. He took the earth when it was without form or void and created something breathtaking, and He can do the same thing for us. Just like the earth was without form, so were we before we met Christ. Just like the earth was void, we were also. But now we have a Savior who can fill that void and has vowed to make us beautiful. Though our sins are many, he has promised to present us white as snow. Let's do our part by providing him with a clean slate to work with. I hope you enjoyed reading the word of God in a new light.
